3 Ways Know You've Heard God's Voice
18 April 2023
How do you know you’ve heard God? How do you know you are right?
I’ll be honest, I have been wrong before. I have missed the voice of God.
It hurts, it’s disappointing, but it’s apart of the process.
You can mistake God's voice for your own thoughts, desires and ideas, because you are not perfect and sometimes you want things so badly that you can’t discern the difference between your voice and God.
When you practice hearing God you’ll begin to grow and sometimes that means getting things wrong.
God knew that hearing his voice would be something that you grow up with, so don’t be afraid or discouraged when you get things wrong- it will happen once in a while.
In fact, sometimes you will hear God and have a revelation but no accurate interpretation or you could have an interpretation with the wrong application .
This is why we were designed to hear God's voice in a community, not isolation. You need people around you to help you grow into all that God wants you to become.
The 5 fold ministry
The five fold ministry was designed so that you could grow spiritually as much as you can plug into a:
Each one of these people has a unique function so that they help you grow into everything God wants you to be.
So how can you test things?
Picture a courtroom you are to judge, and what you believe you heard from God is on trial. This is Biblical because we are told to
Test all things : 1 Thessalonians 5:21
Judge prophecy : 1 Corinthians 14:29
Exercise or senses : Hebrews 5:14
Here are 3 witnesses you can turn to, to help you confirm the voice of God.
1. The witness of his sons in the multitude of counsel there is safety Proverbs 11:14
I regularly submit what I believe God has said to me, to my wife, and other people who I know hear God! They give me feedback and tell me if they have a witness.
In the multitude of counsel there is safety, so just tell a trusted adviser what you believe God is saying and ask them if it bears witness with them.
Obviously, you’ll have to build relationships for this, but it’s important in your process of building confidence and we are meant to live in the community and not to operate in isolation.
2. The witness of the scriptures
We have a more sure word of prophecy 2 Peter 1:19
Can you find a passage that confirms His word? The Bible says we have a “more sure word” of prophecy. I like to say if “you are unsure, stick to the more sure!”
The scriptures are an undiluted source, so if you are unsure, stick to the scriptures and wait for God to bring a witness or dismiss the word. It’s better to be safe than sorry and you don’t want to run out and make a decision when you don’t have a degree of peace.
3. The witness of the Spirit
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children Romans 8:16
Your very own spirit can be a witness! God can give your spirit internal confirmation that he spoke to you.
How can you judge it? Does your spirit feel the attributes of God's love, joy or peace. Does what God says make you love him more. Do you feel joy and do you have peace?
If you do, then you have a witness!
How do you feel?
Do you fear... depression, angry or do you feel excited? Enthusiastic.
Peace is a great witness. You can have peace inside you without having peace around you. His peace is evidence of his presence. If you have peace, then move forward, you are fine. Even if you’ve built a sensitivity to his voice and presence, still take his voice to court and make sure you have a witness.
Understanding The Angelic
17 April 2023
I know so many people who want to see angels, I discovered that angels don’t want to be seen.
Remember how the angels in Isaiah's vision covered their faces?
Why did they do that?
They covered their faces because they didn’t want to take away from God’s glory.
Angels carry a dimension of Glory and they know that when we see them we have a tendency to be awestruck.
Angels protect the Gods' glory and they prefer not to be seen!
¹In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted; and the train of His robe filled the temple. ²Above Him stood seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. ³And they were calling out to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts; all the earth is full of His glory.
Isaiah 6 1-2
Be happy with what God gives you.
Stop praying to see angels.
If God opens your spiritual eyes, be happy and grateful, but seeing in the Spirit isn’t a sign of spiritual maturity.
It’s just evidence of God’s grace and kindness.
Keep the main thing the main thing and fix your eyes on Jesus.
